Weekly Photo – ChemLoveArt Experiment

A picture that I made for this week’s photo challenge with the theme Opposites.

Using items commonly found in the household, I wanted to demonstrate two opposites – color temperatures and solvent polarities. The former is seen in the colors used for this image, a warm red interacting with the cool blue. The latter is shown by mixing liquids of different polarities to create interesting patterns in the dyes.

With some time and patience, there’s a lot one can do with a plate of glass, food coloring, and a couple of toiletries.
