Chasing Rainbows

20150307-jrl_olango_107The sun maybe tucked behind a blanket of clouds, but it’s no reason to stow your camera away. I have been ‘forcing’ myself to continue to shoot despite not getting the weather or the light that I was hoping for.

It’s easy to get discouraged, especially if you’re on the coast of Olango island, a beautiful wildlife sanctuary just off Mactan; and you get a wall of clouds that are gray enough to get an average exposure reading off of. The old me would have stopped shooting and sulked in some corner, cursing the universe (raises fists angrily at the heavens).

The older me has come to realize the obvious correlation between having your gear in your bag and the number of pictures you’re going to make. Just because I have to work harder to get my shot doesn’t mean that the picture isn’t there in the first place.

Keep your camera in hand. You’ll never know when you’re going to chance upon an unexpected rainbow.

    1. It’s okay, dude. It does look a bit like one. It’s actually a flat boat that can be used to ferry people to and from the shore when the tide is too low and the larger pump boat can’t dock.
