This picture was shot at Mactan Island in the province of Cebu on the morning prior to the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that struck the neighboring island of Bohol last October 15, 2013. In about two hours time, the ground shook and both the landscape and peoples’ lives were forever changed. Tremors were felt as far as Mindanao, but Cebu came out of it at a small cost to lives and infrastructure. Bohol, on the other hand, bore the brunt of the quake at a much greater price. It’s been nearly two weeks now, and people have started to rebuild and reclaim some form of normalcy even as aftershocks jolt us to this day. Life goes on.
